"La Barillère" in the Loire Valley Gillian White invites you to view our Chambre d'hôte and holiday accommodation open from September 2005. We enclose some images, prices and information as to what's on offer in this historic area. La Flèche is a charming riverside town that's very French and has wonderful well-priced restaurants. There is an excellent weekly market next to the river Loir. The guest accommodation is in a newly renovated part of our home. Former vineyard and barrel makers, this 16th century property is set in its own 20 acre estate and enjoys complete rural tranquillity. Guests also enjoy the use of the living room with its enormous stone fireplace. The rooms are separate from our own living arrangements and each has its own bathroom.
Our home offers a large wood burning stove to heat the dining area. Food served is in season, which is game. The Hunt season has started and you can find many wild mushrooms in the woods along with chestnuts and walnuts in abundance. You can use the fire to roast your chestnuts. Also this area does not tend to close down during the Winter months. Walking, golf, good restaurants, wine trails and much more are on offer locally. Treat yourself to a rest before the pressure of the Christmas Holidays commences. La Barillere, in The Loire Valley, is ideally situated for overnight stopovers for those driving from Spain to the French Ports, returning home for Christmas. Gillian is running the chambre d'hôte and a feature of our offer is evening meals. Her cuisine has acquired a local flavour supplied by the weekly La Flèche market. I will introduce you to the outstanding local wines of St. Nicolas de Bourgueil (red) and Coteaux du Layon (white) which we taste in the 'Cave' below the stone barn. The Loire probably needs no introduction - chateaux, wines, gardens, rivers. However we believe that this area has special appeal for golfers and 'randonée' - walking, cycling and horse riding. *Golf…….3 super courses at your disposal:
*Randonée…….Arguably more beautiful than 'Loire' itself - the Loir river winds its way through forests, and lakes abound. La Flèche itself has a 206km pisted track (for walking, horse riding etc) that passes through 11 villages in the countryside surrounding the town. La Flèche also has its own very large sandy beach with lifeguards present in July and August. Whether you're stopping 'en route' to the south or wish to stay longer, a warm welcome awaits you at "La Barillère". We look forward to hearing from you........
